Not all homes good for rental, landlords advised

Many homes are not suited to the rental market, an expert on the
lettings industry has said.
Chairman of the Residential Landlords Association Alan Ward
commented that many new houses that have come on the rental market
are owned by people who have been unable to sell them.
However, he suggested, these are not necessarily appropriate,
remarking: "People have an emotional attachment to their family
homes and rental properties suffer greater wear and tear than owner
occupied ones," adding that landlords must "accept this
difference".
Those investing in property may consider such comments as they
decide how they will manage and maintain them over time.
Figures from the Department for Communities and Local Government
produced in January showed that the amount of rental property in
Britain rose from 2.7 million households in 2007 to three million
last year.
